Banana Shire Wrap Up 2022

2022 saw RACQ CapRescue respond to over a quarter of their tasks in the Banana Shire.

These 114 missions, with a cost of over $2 million, were lives saved, including parents, children, co-workers and friends.

The most common call for the region, is to deliver patients to Rockhampton hospital for treatment that may not be available in the area.

With a high rural population, the CapRescue crew has also attended several accidents on properties this year.

Sometimes involving livestock, farming equipment or health concerns, one recent mission was to attend to a woman who had been using her motorbike on the farm and had fallen. These isolated areas require assistance that reaches them quickly, often without pre-planned landing areas.

One of the most significant fundraising events was held in Moura this year, the Bush Shindig. This fantastic, hard-working committee raised an incredible amount of over $50,000, with half of the funds donated to CapRescue. This life-saving service can’t continue without the support of the community, so this donation is gratefully received.

The communities of the Banana Shire can rest assured that RACQ CapRescue will continue to provide the rapid, lifesaving service it relies on through 2023.

From the Rescue300 staff and crew, we wish the entire Banana region a safe and Merry Christmas. We are truly grateful for your support in 2022 and look forward to the upcoming events in 2023!
