Families across Gladstone had the chance to get up close with Rescue300 and meet local emergency services at the CapRescue Gladstone Community Open Day in August.
Presented by Australia Pacific LNG downstream operator ConocoPhillips, the free event brought Rescue300 to the Gladstone Ports Corporation Marina Parklands, giving locals the opportunity to step inside the helicopter, meet the CapRescue crew and learn more about the aeromedical service.
The Open Day formed part of CapRescue’s 30th anniversary celebrations and was an opportunity to celebrate the milestone with the Gladstone community.
CapRescue was joined by local emergency services, with vehicles, equipment and displays giving families the chance to meet local responders and get a closer look at the work they do across the region.
There was plenty for younger visitors too, with badge making and face painting adding to the family atmosphere throughout the morning.
For CapRescue, the day provided an opportunity to connect with the Gladstone community away from an emergency. While Rescue300 is most often seen flying overhead or responding to a task, the Open Day offered a chance to see behind the scenes in a relaxed community setting.
We thank Australia Pacific LNG downstream operator ConocoPhillips and Gladstone Regional Council for their support of the event, the emergency services and organisations who joined the day, and everyone who came along to celebrate.
