Volunteers Enjoy A Trip to GKI

National Volunteer Week, hosted by Volunteering Australia from May 17 – May 23, celebrated the fantastic contribution of millions of volunteers across Australia and over 700,000 volunteers across Queensland. The theme this year was “Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine”.

RACQ CapRescue took this opportunity to recognise, celebrate and thank our volunteers for the vital role they play within our Service and the community. Our volunteers continually go above and beyond to help keep our Service in the air. In just six months, our StepUp CapRescue Volunteers, supported by Thiess have clocked up over 550 volunteer hours, equating to over $23,000 according to the current Volunteering Queensland wage rate. Their generosity, contribution and commitment to the Service is outstanding and we cannot thank our volunteers enough for what they do.

This year, we celebrated National Volunteer Week with a day trip to the breathtaking Great Keppel Island. Our Volunteers and RACQ CapRescue Volunteer Coordinators enjoyed a relaxing day by the beach, with a bush walk and a delicious lunch. Thank you to Great Keppel Island and Keppel Konnections for supporting our celebration and providing us with the opportunity to reconnect with one another.

National Volunteer Week also provided us with an opportunity to say thank you to our StepUp CapRescue Volunteer program sponsor, Thiess. Thiess continues to support our Service and our Volunteer program, helping to keep the people in our community safe. With the support of Thiess, we have recruited a dedicated team of volunteers who continually strive to meet our vision every day. RACQ CapRescue are humbled by the continued support of Thiess – their generosity ensures we can continue to be there for Central Queensland.
