Whitehaven joins CapRescue as a Blue Sky Partner

CapRescue is proud to welcome Whitehaven as the newest Blue Sky Partner, helping to keep Rescue300 in the air for patients across 350,000km2 — at no cost to them.

Whitehaven’s presence goes beyond its workforce, and the company’s commitment to the people of Central Queensland aligns with CapRescue’s mission to provide critical care to the population of over 300,000 people.

As the primary provider of helicopter aeromedical service in the area, CapRescue responds to emergencies and inter-hospital transfers — from inland to the coast and offshore islands — delivering advanced care when it matters most.

Working together with Whitehaven ensures Rescue300 can provide the best chance of recovery, because a big region needs a fast response.

With operations in Blackwater, Whitehaven is focused on strengthening and giving back to the local areas where it operates. As part of the Central Highlands, they are helping support a region that accounted for almost a third of all CapRescue tasks in 2024 — over 170 rescues and nearly $5 million in operational costs.

Whitehaven Regional General Manager QLD, Dan Iliffe, said CapRescue provided an essential service for regional communities.

“We’re proud to be able to help keep Rescue300 in the air through our ongoing financial support,” Mr Iliffe added.

“We know how important the service is for families, workers and communities right across Central Queensland. Partnering with CapRescue is one way we can give back to our region and help ensure rapid, lifesaving care is available to people in their toughest moments.

“This contribution is part of Whitehaven’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities that support us. We look forward to a long and meaningful partnership with CapRescue.”

CapRescue CEO Darren Pirie said partnerships like this are vital to keeping the service ready to respond at any time.

“We’re grateful for Whitehaven’s support and their recognition of the role CapRescue plays in safeguarding the people of Central Queensland. Their dedication to the local community makes them a strong partner in ensuring help is always close at hand in an emergency.”

The Blue Sky Partner program connects CapRescue with organisations committed to sustaining the service for future generations. Whitehaven’s support will contribute directly to the operational costs required to keep Rescue300 mission-ready, 24/7, 365 days a year.
