CapRescue: CQ farmers are in safe hands

During National Farm Safety Week in July, CapRescue reflected on its vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of farmers and rural communities. With this year’s theme, ‘In Safe Hands,’ our contributions to remote areas are more significant than ever.

Critical Rural Rescue Missions to July 2024:

  • Dirt Bike Incidents: 3
  • Quad Bike Incidents: 4
  • Horse Incidents: 4
  • Snake Encounters: 2
  • Search and Rescue Operations: 1
  • Cattle-Related Incidents: 2
  • Medical Emergencies: 2
  • Machinery Incidents: 3

One of the year’s most remarkable rescues occurred on February 28th at a Springsure property. CapRescue was dispatched to assist a man in his 40s trapped under a grain silo. Multiple emergency service personnel were involved, and upon landing, the Rescue300 medical team provided critical care for suspected crush injuries. The patient was stabilized and airlifted to Rockhampton Base Hospital for further treatment.

In outlying areas, where immediate medical and emergency services are often hours away, CapRescue serves as a crucial lifeline. Our highly trained team provides farmers and their families with timely and expert medical assistance in emergencies, significantly impacting rural safety.

CapRescue covers an extensive area, stretching west to Alpha, north to St Lawrence, south to Seventeen Seventy, and off the Capricorn Coast. This region spans approximately 350,000 square kilometres, almost the size of Germany, highlighting the vast area we serve.

The support of the rural community is just as vital as our service to the residents in remote areas. We thank those who make CapRescue the beneficiary of their events, such as camp drafts, businesses who are part of the Rescue300 club, and those who choose to donate. Your support helps us continue making a real difference and keeps the you in safe hands.
