Just days before the Easter long weekend, three vehicles collided at the entrance to Yeppoon. It marked the 17th motor vehicle accident for the year, and raised concern among the RACQ CapRescue crew.
“At the time of this accident we had already recorded a 50% increase in MVA’s compared with the same period last year.” said RACQ CapRescue’s Kirsty Wooler.
The helicopter landed at the scene and assisted the multiple emergency services already treating those involved in the crash. Our onboard medical crew provided critical treatment to a man with potential head trauma and serious injuries to his wrist. He was promptly airlifted to Rockhampton.
Upon their return the Rescue300 crew released an important safety plea to all motorists hitting the road over the easter break. Drivers were encouraged to take the utmost care when getting behind the wheel by remembering the Fatal Five, driving to the conditions and knowing their limits.
