RACQ CapRescue Hits Appeal Target as Central Queensland Gets Behind Rescue Helicopter with Lifesaving Donations

25 years ago, RACQ CapRescue was just a dream. Today we are the heroes in the sky who keep the people of Central Queensland safe, in a region as diverse as it is vast. We are on call 24 / 7, 365 days a year – FREE of charge and continue to be there when you need us.

Currently over $10 million is required annually to fund our life saving service, which we continue to provide FREE to those we rescue. We are grateful for the 60% in funding contributed by the Queensland Government, but we must rely on our wonderful community to also support us financially.

This year, we asked the community to help us in reaching our target of $150,000 during this, our 25th Anniversary Appeal. RACQ CapRescue were delighted that Central Queensland got behind the service and helped us exceed our target by donating over $178,000.

Operations Manager at RACQ CapRescue Kirsty Wooler comments “In previous years the community have dug deep and supported our service through our annual appeal, for which we are incredibly grateful.

This year our appeal had a dual purpose as we called on the community to not only support us in reaching our target of raising $150,000, but to also help us celebrate 25 years of saving lives in Central Queensland.” Ms Wooler said.

The generosity and support from the Central Queensland community is what has allowed us to continue performing life saving missions, free of charge for the last 25 years.
