Last month, our CapRescue team came together with a few dedicated volunteers in Gladstone for Mental Health First Aid training. Thanks to the generous support of the Gladstone Regional Council Grassroots Fund, we were equipped with the skills to better support our community’s mental health.
The training provided us with the tools to recognise and respond to common mental health issues, empowering our team to support each other during challenging times. We’re proud to be building a team that’s not only skilled in rescue operations but also in supporting each other and those around us.
Our volunteers were also invited to this training, and we’d like to share some of their thoughts on the experience:
“Being part of the Mental Health First Aid course was incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful to CapRescue for inviting me to join the team in this training. The skills I gained will be valuable not only in my volunteer work but also in my professional and social life. It’s given me a greater understanding of mental health, and I feel more equipped to support others.”
“Attending the Mental Health First Aid training with the CapRescue team was a fantastic opportunity. As a volunteer, I really appreciated being included and gaining skills that I can apply not just within CapRescue but in my own life as well. It’s empowering to know I can now recognise and respond to mental health challenges, whether it’s with friends, family, or colleagues.”
By continuing to enhance our mental health knowledge, we are strengthening our ability to care for one another, our community, and those who rely on us during emergencies.
We’re grateful to the Gladstone Regional Council Grassroots Fund for making this training possible. Their support helps us ensure that CapRescue is not only prepared for the physical demands of rescue operations but also equipped to provide the emotional support our community needs.
CapRescue is proudly supported by Gladstone Regional Council’s Grassroots Fund.
