Celebrating 2024: A Year of Lifesaving Achievements with CapRescue

As we say goodbye to 2024, we reflect on a year filled with remarkable missions, unwavering community support, and incredible partnerships. Thanks to your generosity, Rescue300 answered nearly 600 calls for help, delivering critical care across Central Queensland.

Every Mission Matters

From life-threatening farming accidents to remote medical emergencies, our crew tackled a wide range of missions. January kicked off with 46 missions, including interhospital transfers and marine rescues off Bundaberg. February saw a standout mission assisting a man trapped under a grain silo in Springsure, while March featured a swimming emergency on Heron Island and specialist care for both a newborn and elderly patient in a single weekend. Through to December,
our team responded to emergencies ranging from a to a workplace excavation cave-in to a Christmas Eve winch rescue at Farnborough Beach.

Community Support in Action

Our CapRescue-hosted events were a true testament to the strength of our community. Hundreds joined us at events like the Colour Me Capricorn fun run in Rockhampton, our Open Days in Gladstone and Rockhampton, the Yeppoon Golf Day, and the Degustation evenings. These events were made possible thanks to our sponsors, whose support helped raise vital funds for Rescue300.
Equally inspiring were the countless efforts of community groups and individuals who organised their own events, choosing CapRescue as their charity of choice. Some of the highlights include:
  • Trail Runs and Auctions: The Mystery Park Trail Festival and Alpha Show Society’s Scarecrow Auction raised funds while promoting fitness and creativity.
  • Sporting Spirit: Events like the Combined Services Gladstone Touch Footy Day and the Dingo Campdraft showed how sport can unite people for a cause.
  • Unique Gatherings: The Rockhampton Bromeliad & Foliage Sale and Jamar Santa Gertrudis Stud Sale reflected the community’s generosity in supporting our lifesaving work.
These events are a reflection of our community’s dedication to ensuring lifesaving care is available to everyone in Central Queensland.

Partnerships That Matter

LIFT OFF PARTNERS
Our Lift Off partners have been vital to our success. This year, we celebrated five years with MM Electrical Rockhampton (MMEM & i3), whose support has enhanced our operations. In May, we welcomed Jemena as a new partner, strengthening our ability to save lives and build communities. We also renewed our partnership with Yancoal’s Yarrabee Coal Mine for continued lifesaving support. The Resources Charity Golf Day, hosted by Hastings Deering, raised important funds, while Squadron Energy reaffirmed their commitment during a November visit to our Rockhampton hangar, demonstrating their ongoing dedication to keeping CapRescue mission-ready.

BLUE SKY PARTNERS
Our Blue Sky partners continue to uplift our mission. We thank Anglo American Dawson, Santos Ltd, and Jellinbah for their ongoing support. This year, we also celebrated National Volunteer Week, recognising the selfless contributions of our volunteers at events. Their efforts, supported by Thiess, have been crucial in helping us continue our lifesaving work in the community.

HIGH ALTITUDE PARTNERS
We honour our High Altitude partners for their unwavering support. Glencore Coal Australia has been instrumental in training our crew, ensuring they are always mission-ready. Our Gladstone Community Open Day, where hundreds connected with our crew and helicopter, was made possible by Australia Pacific LNG, downstream operator for ConocoPhillips. Their above and beyond support helped raise awareness of our vital services.

Beyond the Missions

Behind the scenes, we focused on strengthening our organisation. From scheduled maintenance on our AW139 helicopter to improved signage for better accessibility at our hangar, every improvement ensures we can respond when it matters most. Initiatives like the WorkReady program and a fully operational WorkReady van reflect our commitment to community health and safety.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we prepare for another year, we are deeply grateful for your continued support. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve maintained a service that is essential and free to patients. Together, we’ve saved lives, strengthened our community, and created a legacy of care. From all of us at CapRescue, thank you for being part of our journey in 2024. Let’s continue to make a real difference—one mission at a time.
