From the Skies to the Community: FY 2024–2025 Highlights

From strong collaborations to events that brought people together, the 2024–2025 financial year showcased what makes Central Queensland special — a region that looks after its own.

At the heart of every mission are people. Thanks to the generosity of individuals, local businesses and organisations, CapRescue continued to deliver world-class aeromedical care — operating 24/7, 365 days a year — at no cost to patients. Among those making it possible were Air Crew Officer Sam McLean, newly welcomed to the team, and Senior Pilot Mitch Vernon, farewelled with deep appreciation for his years of service.

Our corporate partners again played a vital role, directly funding missions that helped patients reach critical care faster. Powerlink Queensland joined the CapRescue family as a BlueSky member, extending its impact from powering homes to powering lifesaving operations. Long-term supporters Squadron Energy and Yarrabee Coal Mine reaffirmed their LiftOff commitment, while MM Electrical Mining & Industrial Rockhampton (MMEM & i3Infrasolutions) celebrated five years of steadfast support for their community.

This year also highlighted the individuals who make a difference behind the scenes — particularly those part of our StepUp Program, presented by Thiess. In Rockhampton, Lucy Neaton inspired others through #GenerationImpact during National Student Volunteer Week before moving on to serve in the armed forces — leaving behind a legacy of dedication and community spirit. Kay Salmond shared her story for National Volunteer Week, reflecting on how her rural connection inspired her to give back. The first-ever Volunteer Connect Expo 2025 also celebrated the region’s volunteers, including Sue Neaton, awarded Volunteer of the Year, and Don Neaton, recipient of the Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering Award.

Events once again united the community while raising vital funds and awareness — from Awesome August’s celebration of generosity in a variety of forms, to the CapRescue Degustation, a culinary success raising over $40,000, and Colour Me Capricorn, where families and friends turned fitness into fundraising. The year rounded out with the CapRescue Golf Day in June, bringing together supporters for some friendly competition on the green. Each occasion showcased the power of community support and the generosity of local sponsors who make these moments possible.

Some stories reminded us why this support matters most. After a serious workplace accident, patient Pete Hamilton shared how CapRescue’s rapid response made all the difference to his recovery — a powerful reminder that every contribution, event and donation helps save lives.

From corporate allies to local champions, every effort keeps Rescue300 flying. CapRescue is proud to serve Central Queensland — and grateful to everyone who makes this lifesaving service possible.
