For the 4th year, the Rockhampton community woke up bright and early on a picturesque Sunday morning to help RACQ CapRescue create clouds of colour in the Kershaw Gardens at Colour Me Capricorn Rockhampton.
Over 600 participants ran, walked, danced or strolled their way along the garden paths, creating a vibrant atmosphere and making it a colourful success by raising over $17,000 for RACQ CapRescue.
“Even though we had some competitive runners in the mix, the event wasn’t about winning or breaking personal bests, it was about getting colourful, having loads of fun, and enjoying an active morning with friends, family and colleagues,” Community Fundraising Officer, Caitlin Buttenshaw stated. “It was great to see so many community members of all ages venturing out on their Sunday morning to participate in this fun, active event and help raise funds for our Service.”
Volunteer contribution was outstanding with over 20 StepUp CapRescue Volunteers, supported by Thiess in attendance, including corporate volunteers from Blackwoods Rockhampton and QMAG. Volunteers from the CQU Health Clinic were also on hand to provide free sports massage to participants.
“The success of Colour Me Capricorn relies heavily on the support of our volunteers,” Caitlin stated. “Colour Me Capricorn is one of the most popular events for our volunteers with everyone walking away smiling from ear to ear, excited to be a part of the our other events.”
Colour Me Capricorn Rockhampton would not have been possible without the support from our sponsors and other local businesses including Rockhampton Regional Council, Stanwell Power Station, QMAG, Ergon Energy Network, Blackwoods Rockhampton, Vector Health Rockhampton, and Livin the Bean.
