In 2022 the crew were still needed close to home, with more than 80 tasks completed between Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast at a cost exceeding $1.2 million.
These missions were not just numbers; they were lives saved, including parents, children, co-workers and friends.
In November, the crew had a busy start to their week, with two callouts in just a few hours. The first was to attend to a man in his 70s at Stanage Bay who was suffering from possible cardiac problems and was transported to Rockhampton Hospital.
Within moments of touching down at the hangar, #Rescue300 was tasked again to a single-vehicle accident in Emu Park. Multiple emergency service personnel attended the scene to assist the woman.
She suffered suspected head injuries and burns from the incident and was treated at the scene by the onboard medical crew and flown to Rockhampton Hospital.
Multiagency collaborations are a major aspect of the operations of CapRescue; the Yeppoon Coastguard is a vital part of this.
Across the year, CapRescue often performed water operations training, which aligns with the volunteers of the Yeppoon Coastguard.
These collaborative training sessions are essential to RACQ CapRescue, providing our lifesaving service to those within Central Queensland and the Capricorn Coast.
An 11-year-old girl and her Aunty required immediate assistance following a boating incident off Keppel Island in early December. They were winched by the CapRescue crew, whilst other survivors were retrieved by boat to the Coast Guard at Rosslyn Bay.
We are grateful for the the community showing their appreciation by attending events such as Colour me Capricorn Rockhampton with over 800 participants to more fancy affairs like the sold-out Degustation dinner nights presented by Matt Golinski.
In Yeppoon, the annual Resources golf day is a highlight, with excellent support from sponsors such as Hastings Deering, raising over $65,000 since it first tee’d off.
You can trust that in 2023 RACQ CapRescue will continue to be on call for the Rockhampton & Livingstone community. From winch rescues to vehicle accidents, search and rescues, and interhospital transfers, Rescue300 will be there.
The staff and crew wish everyone in the region a safe and Merry Christmas. Thank you for your support in 2022, and keep an eye out for our 2023 events!
