We wouldn’t be here today without CapRescue.

Those six words from former patients Fiona and Bevan Baker were among the most powerful moments of CapRescue’s 30th Anniversary Charity Ball on Friday night.

Ironically, 300 guests attended the milestone event, presented by QMAG, helping raise $60,000 to support Rescue300’s lifesaving work.

Fiona and Bevan shared the remarkable journey that led them to rely on CapRescue, reflecting on the care they received and the gratitude they continue to feel for the crew they credit with saving their lives.

Acting CEO Kirsty Wooler said hearing their story reminded everyone in the room what the evening was really about.

“Hearing Fiona and Bevan speak reminded everyone that behind every mission is a person, a family and a future that can be changed in an instant,” Ms Wooler said.

“It’s easy to talk about helicopters, equipment and fundraising targets, but at the heart of CapRescue are the people whose lives are changed because help arrived when they needed it most.”

“For three decades, our community has stood behind CapRescue. From our corporate partners and volunteers to the many individuals who support our fundraising events each year, this service simply couldn’t exist without them.”

Guests began the evening with pre-dinner drinks and photos beside Rescue300, with the new Aurizon Stadium providing a spectacular backdrop, before enjoying a three-course dinner, live entertainment and fundraising activities.

Ms Wooler said the generosity shown throughout the evening was an investment in the future of the community’s aeromedical service.

“To everyone who attended, sponsored, volunteered, donated prizes, purchased Balloons or bid in our auctions, thank you. It’s inspiring to see our community continuing to invest in the future of CapRescue.”

Just 20 minutes after the festivities came to a close, the helicopter that had been on display for guests was transporting a patient from Thangool to Rockhampton Hospital.

“It’s a timely reminder that while we celebrated our first 30 years on Friday night, our crews are always focused on the next mission,” Ms Wooler said.

CapRescue thanked presenting partner QMAG, event sponsors, table sponsors, auction and Balloon Pop prize donors, volunteers and every guest who attended for helping make the 30th Anniversary Charity Ball such a success.
