CapRescue Community Open Day

On Sunday 16th July, the Rescue300 helicopter touched down at CQUniversity Rockhampton for the RACQ CapRescue Community Open Day, presented by Jemena. Families from all around the region came out to enjoy the fun and educational event. Children (and parents) were eager to meet their local heroes and learn more about the important work our emergency service crews do within the community.

The RACQ CapRescue helicopter was stationed at the event allowing the community to get ‘up close and personal’, experiencing the rescue aircraft inside and out, with prime photo opportunities! Also in attendance were crews from other local emergency services, including Queensland Fire & Emergency Services, Rural Fire Service, SES Rockhampton, Queensland Police Service, Rural Fire Service, and RACQ. Staff and students from the CQUniversity Health Clinic were onsite to show the services what they offer including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, podiatry, and paramedic fields. This provided something for everyone to enjoy with fun interactive activities and demonstrations.

The community also enjoyed delicious ice cream from Mr Mojo, coffee from the Coffee-Ology Coffee Van, face painting, cupcake decorating and a sausage sizzle from our wonderful StepUp CapRescue Volunteers.

The CapRescue Community Open Day was proudly supported by Jemena and CQUniveristy Rockhampton. Thank you also to Parkhurst Quality Meats, Doblos Farmers Market, Walker’s Hot Bread, and Brumby’s Parkhurst for their donations.
