Central Highlands Region Wrap Up 2022

In 2022 over a quarter of the RACQ CapRescue tasks were completed in the Central Highlands Region at a total cost of more than $3 million.

These 113 tasks were lives saved, including parents, children, co-workers and friends.

Inter Hospital Transfers dominated the tasks performed in the area totalling over 80% of the missions completed.

In October, two Inter-hospital transfers to the Central Highlands took over 5 hours of flight time for #Rescue300. The first of the tasks assisted a male patient in his 20s who had suffered suspected leg injuries following a motorbike accident. The second showed the capabilities of our aero-medical transfer, with two patients being transported to Rockhampton for further treatment.

The community continues to give back to our life-saving service, recognising the importance of helping to keep themselves and fellow Central Highlands residents safe.

An outstanding moment for the CapRescue crew was the donation from Sharyn and the team from the Blackwater Country Club. They dropped into the hangar and surprised everyone with a cheque for $40,160!

The money was raised from the annual Annie’s Charity Golf Day. This amazing group has hosted the event since 2012 and raised over $160,000 for our Service.

The fundraising staff were also excited to announce this year that the first ever Colour me Capricorn Emerald will be happening on May 7th 2023! Get ready to run, walk, skip or stroll through the Emerald Botanic Gardens, creating a cloud of colour and raising money for RACQ CapRescue.

From winch rescues to vehicle accidents, search and rescue, and inter-hospital transfers, you can trust that in 2023 the CapRescue Crew will be on call for the Central Highlands community.

The staff and crew wish the entire region a safe and Merry Christmas.  Thank you for your support in 2022, and keep an eye out for our 2023 events!
