Blackwoods StepUp for CapRescue

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and was held on 15 – 21 May 2023. During NVW, Volunteering Queensland celebrates and recognises the vital work of volunteers and takes the time to say thanks for the amazing work they do.

The Queensland Volunteering Awards held in Brisbane during NVW was an opportunity to celebrate some of the volunteers and organisations who go above and beyond to keep their communities running.

This year, one of our wonderful sponsors and corporate volunteers, Blackwoods were nominated and placed 2nd in the Queensland Corporate Volunteering Award category. The award is presented in recognition of a “for profit” business that has made a positive contribution to the Queensland community through the impact of its employee volunteering program.

Each year Blackwoods choose a selection of community events and charities to support. The Branch come together to support the cause with volunteered work hours, in kind donations, sponsorship of events and raffle prize donations.

The Rockhampton and Gladstone branches have supported RACQ CapRescue for many years with both financial and volunteer support at fundraising events including Colour Me Capricorn, the CapRescue Degustation and Ball, the CBD Christmas Fair, Community Open Days and more.
